Winter Season of Lights in Ljubljana

The people of Ljubljana don't just accept winter - they celebrate it! The entire month of December in particular is filled with special events along the beautifully illuminated streets of central Ljubljana.

The festive events kick off on 3 December with the illumination of the decorations and huge Christmas tree in the centre, as well as light installations by the artist Zmago Modic. One of the highlights of Ljubljana's winter celebrations is the Festive Fair Christmas market where local arts and crafts are on sale as well as regional delicacies such as honey and sweets. It's nearly impossible to walk through the fair without being tempted by the aroma from the grilled meats and mulled wine too!

As for New Year's Eve celebrations, public events will take place in five locations across the city: he Presernov trg, Novi trg, Mestni trg, Pogacarjev trg and Trg francoske revolucije squares.
