Nobel Burek

Ljubljana, you may have noticed, is exceptionally well-endowed when it comes to cheap street food: horse burgers, falafel and (our personal favourite) piping-hot, greasy burek. Popular across the entire former Ottoman Empire, burek is (at least in Ljubljana) large, filling, greasy, savoury stuffed pastry made from phyllo dough. While debate rages (and literally everyone has an opinion) about which street stands are the best, our pick of the litter is Nobel Burek on Miklosiceva (near the train station). Open 24 hours to accommodate hungry people of all sobrieties, the good people of Nobel Burek give you two choices: cheese or minced meat burek. Essentially no choice at all, take our word for it and go with cheese - it's unbeatable and so is the price.
