Ljubljana's largest park, Tivoli's greenery and chestnut-lined avenues brings nature right into the city centre. In addition to trees and flower beds, the 5 square kilometre park also features many monuments, fountains, mansions, a fish pond and a children's playground. The park's most prominent feature is Plecnik's (who else?) Jakopic Walk and the baroque grandeur of the Tivoli Mansion and gardens whose steps it leads to. An outdoor swimming pool at the park's edge was the most modern pool in Yugoslavia when it was built in 1929. More recently, several sports parks have been built around the edge of the park, including a concert hall. Tivoli is a great place to stroll, study or snog, depending on your company and mood, so pull in and park it.
