Ljubljana Castle

The most popular tourist attraction in Ljubljana, the castle includes a chapel of St. George, a mini-cinema showing a history of the city, and a tower that offers the highest view-point in town. First take the long hike up the spiral staircase to the top of the tower, then when you're back down, marvel at the beauty of the chapel, including the coats of arms of the past Carniolan governors, and then make yourself comfortable, switch the headphones into your preferred language, put on your 3-D glasses, and watch the history of Ljubljana unfold in front of your very eyes. Regular guided tours are available from the beginning of June to the middle of September, and are available on prior request any other time of the year. Thirsty? Relax in the courtyard/cafe with an ice-cold drink and partake in a little tourist-watching.

Well, this is a caricature of a castle - sitting prettily on a hill overlooking the whole town. Bit of a slog of a walk getting up there though!
